Bio a historie

Kristina was born in Prague in 1987. Since 1994 she active performs in public. In the years 1996 - 2003 she participated in national and international competitions (Prague Junior Note, Concertino Praga and more). She studied oboe, piano, flute and drums in Gymnasium of Jan Neruda, high school of music in Prague. She graduated from oboe in 2006 and then studied at the Prague Conservatory for two years. In the years 2007 - 2012 she studied piano (Prof. Jiri Ruzicka) and composition (Prof. Milan Svoboda) at the Conservatory of Jaroslav Jezek. Since 2012 she studying jazz piano at the Academy of Music in Prague in bachelor program under Prof. Karel Ruzicka. 

She recorded the first CD ,,The Children playing jazz,, and played her first jazz gigs in the years 2000 - 2002. Since 2003 she was a bassist of the band Green Smatroll. Performed in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Poland, France. In 2004, 2006 and 2009 recorded CDs with GS. In 2009, third CD won the Angel Award (Czech music award issued by the Czech Academy of Popular Music).

Since 2002 performed with folk ensemble Spalicek, GJN Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Film Orchestra, since 2010 the Czech National Symphony Orchestra in the Czech Republic and abroad. 2008 - 2012 she was a member of Vaclav Hybs Orchestra where she accompanied and recorded with the leading Czech singers (Lucie Bila, Karel Gott, Vaclav Neckar and many others). Since 2009 she works with many orchestras and bands in the Czech Republic and abroad. Among others, e.g. Felix Slovacek Bigband, Golden Bigband Prague, BigChess Band led by Vaclav Kozel, Svihadlo, Prague conspiracy, The Spankers, Chamber Worcester, Klara Vytiskova and others.
Kristina works with the Berlin band Scotch & Soda, with her sister and great jazz singer, Martina Barta and with students and musicians from Jazz Institute Berlin.

In the years 2008 - 2010 she led her own band Real Groove. With her own compositions she performed in Prague and elsewhere clubs, festivals and national and international competitions rock bands. Since 2010 she leads her own band Kikina b, today's Kristina Barta The Quartet Project with her own compositions with Czech and foreign musicians. In 2012, the project was a finalist in the international jazz competition Czech Jazz Contest and won the first prize of the international competition Young Jazz Tunes.
